5 Ways to Make Your Home Homey

Keeping the Clutter at Bay

I almost feel like a hypocrite having this as the first on my list today! This is important to me but right now my house is anything but decluttered! We have been purging, reorganizing almost every room in our house lately! We have just been changing our set up to meet our needs better. Check out Why you Should Clean and Organize Your Worst Place First!  We’re just in the process of this and doing a few projects 😉 But when there is not clutter it bring peace when you walk into a room.

It’s important to provide a clean environment to for my family and for my business! Keeping up with the cleaning is one way I keep my home homey for the ones I love. Finding Joy in Homemaking in those everyday task helps!

Fresh Flowers

My hubby brings me fresh flowers quite often and it adds a touch of homeyness 🙂 and what girl doesn’t love flowers from her hubby!

Displayed Crafts

My daughter LOVES Crafts! LOVES to paint and well we put it on the fridge to display! We do limit how much is on there 😉 It nice to see her creativeness and it sure does make the place look homey!

Simple Decor

We are not super minimalist but we are aiming to be a little bit more and this is one area that I am one! I don’t have a lot of knickknacks or decor for each season even though I love seeing all my friend nice decor. Mine is on the simple side but it is just right for us!  All of my decor works for year round decorating. We change out the wreath on the door and our flag outside with the seasons or holidays. Christmas is about the only time I go all out in decorations but even then it is more simple.

  1. Yes on the decluttering and cleaning! I probably forgot to include those in this post because my home is meeting either of those requirements right now… We do have plenty of displayed crafts & artwork, though!

  2. I am SO with you on simple decor, Samantha! I hate dusting and believe dust came into the world with the fall of mankind, so if I have to dust it, I have to REALLY love it. Having a few meaningful treasures around makes my home feel more homey, whereas having a bunch of clutter around makes me feel like running screaming out of the house. 😉 Here’s to a homey home for both of us…stopping by from 5 After 5!
