Welcome back to the 5 after 5! After a long week come and share your list of 5! Each week we will have a new topic for the following Saturday! So think of your great 5 After 5 List and come link up with us! This week is 5 goals for the new year! I don’t know why I had such a hard time coming up with 5 goals for the new year…maybe because I don’t think you have to wait for a new year to start working on goals but here is what I will be focusing on in the coming months.
5 Goals for the New Year
This is my priority this year as it was last year. I definitely had my ups and downs last year but as we start the new year it is time to start fresh again to regain my focus…but there is nothing saying you have to wait until the new year to start! We have changed to a more organic whole food diet as a family over the last 6 months. I have spent more time in my kitchen prepping food and have learned that I need to menu plan better than I have been. So my goals for health are to eat healthy, exercise, get enough sleep, and drink lots of water along with some other things in the coming year which I sure I will blog about 🙂
I have been reading a lot about Charlotte Mason! And one thing in a CM education in habit training. I just finished reading Laying Down the Rails for Yourself by Sonya Shafer. I am prepared to work on habit training this year! Not just for myself but in my daughter’s life too! Very inspiring read and just what I needed. Two habits I want to work on are Health (as a whole not just for weight loss) and Attentiveness. Of course there are more but those are the first ones we will be focusing on.
I want to create little happy moments everyday for our family. It is so easy to get caught up in the to do list and routine that we (I) do not place enough priority-thoughtfulness in creating little moments throughout the day. This can be a simple as smiling, forgetting the busyness of house work and listening, cuddling, or reading. Or having a tea party with real tea tea cups. I want to remember to create memories of happy moments in our home as a family.
We plan on officially starting Kindergarten next fall. But with that being said my little peanut has already started to read. So starting in January we will be doing All about Reading and Five in a Row. Officially this is still preschool but she has such a desire to learn and “do” school that we are going to start working in getting into a routine of doing school. I do love the Charlotte Mason philosophy but it doesn’t exactly fit with our family completely but almost.
I couldn’t think of another H word to keep it going but honestly this is going to be my word of the year. Intentional. All those other goals you could put intentional in from of every single one! Intentional in my health, intentional habits, intentionally creating happy moments and intentionally homeschooling. I want this year to be full of being intentional-on purpose focused and attentive in how I am living and the life I am creating with my family.
OK that wasn’t so bad of coming up with 5 goals for the new year 😉 What goals do you have for yourself this coming year? But remember you don’t have to wait until the New Year to start!
Next weeks Topic is 5 books you plan on reading in 2017.
