I have found that if I want to have quality time with the Lord I need to have a plan. Here are a few steps that I do  to have quality devotional time with the Lord.

Make it a Priority

Spending time with the Lord need to be a priority in our lives. It can be so easy to get caught up in the business of life, that we don’t spend our time on the right things. Knowing what are priorities are and making sure our goals are focused around them will make the world of difference. Our relationship with the LORD should be our Top Priority.  Spending time with the Lord first thing in the morning is a great way to start the day.

Schedule It

Schedule your devotional time. Write it down in your planner and stick to it. Sometimes doing my devotions in the morning  just doesn’t work out! Finding a time of day that works best for you and one that you know you can commit to is the key. Not a morning person or mornings are just to busy? What about lunch time? What about in the evening?  Making it part of your routine will help you (and me!) have our devotional time on a regular basis. My heart needs that and I’m sure yours does too!

Use a Devotional

Devotionals are a great tool to guide you in your time spent with the Lord. They are not necessary but they give you a little guidance. More than Words for Moms gives you guidance but you still have to do the Study! That’s what I love about it! It doesn’t just give you answers it guides you to spend time in God’s Word, memorize, and meditate on Scripture.

Extra Tools

There are a couple of extra tools that can help you in your devotional time.

A Journal- to write out your thoughts, Scripture, and prayer

A Dictionary or Bible Concordance

A Basket- To keep your Bible, journal, pens, and devotional together and easy find and use each day.

A Quiet Place- Having a quiet place where you can spending time with the Lord will help you to focus and have a time just with Him.

If you are looking for a devotional guide More than Words for Moms will help you in your study of God’s Word.
